Emissions reporting

1Circle’s service for compliant, automated and scalable emissions reporting

Purpose

Meet your mandatory reporting obligations — and turn compliance into insight

Emissions reporting is no longer optional. NGERS and ASRS obligations are expanding, and the consequences of inaccurate or late submissions are real — for regulatory standing, ESG credibility, and investor confidence.

1Circle’s Emissions Reporting platform delivers more than compliance. It gives property owners, managers and investors a reliable, automated and scalable view of their Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions — with the depth of data to track progress against targets, identify cost-saving opportunities, and satisfy every stakeholder from facility managers to the board.

Our service includes:

  • Automated data acquisition from electricity and gas retailers
  • Compliant reporting to NGERS and ASRS frameworks
  • Scope 1 and 2 emissions tracking with progress to targets
  • Scalable platform designed for portfolios of any size and complexity
  • Pathway to Scope 3 reporting including waste, water and transport

Why it matters

When done well, operations improves as well as confidently achieves compliance

Buildings account for more than half of Australia’s electricity consumption and approximately a quarter of greenhouse gas emissions. As mandatory climate-related disclosure requirements expand under the Corporations Act and ASRS, organisations with large property portfolios face increasing compliance complexity and reputational exposure.

The challenge is not simply reporting — it is reporting accurately, efficiently, and in a way that supports decision-making across the organisation.

Poorly managed emissions data creates compliance risk and undermines ESG credibility. When multiple reporting tools operate in silos, data is duplicated, manual processes emerge, and the broader value of reporting is lost.

1Circle resolves this through a single, integrated platform that brings energy data, emissions calculations and performance reporting into one trusted source.

Our solution

Three integrated components

Input framework — retailer-specific data acquisition and transformation templates that automate the flow of electricity, gas and waste data into a universal structure. Automated validation flags identify errors before they reach final reports.

Reporting platform — a secure online portal built on Microsoft SharePoint and Power BI Pro, providing interactive dashboards, drill-down from group level to individual connection point, year-on-year comparison, and exportable data. Reports are updated within one week of receiving source data.

Service commitment — a dedicated point of contact, quarterly performance reviews, and ongoing management of data quality standards. We actively manage the service, not just the system.

Expansion pathway

Steps to achieve improved performance

Despite the importance of Emissions Reporting, it is a subset of 1Circle’s broader Portfolio Performance service that is focussed on driving improving efficiency and lowering cost.

Our emissions reporting platform is designed for expansion — scope can be cost-effectively added.  Specific options we see client’s consider to expand on Scope 1 and 2 emissions reporting includes:

  • Monthly (rather than quarterly) reporting
  • Waste data from contracted suppliers
  • Water, refrigerants and transport
  • Bill validation, budget tracking and energy efficiency reporting

Process

Our process delivers confidence and results

Our implementation approach is structured and fast. With validated historic data in hand, initial reporting can be operational within two weeks.

Setup — We receive and validate your entity hierarchy, historic energy data and master site list. We configure reporting templates, establish automated data feeds and publish the initial portal for client review.

Operate — Ongoing data validation, quarterly emissions reports, annual performance reviews, and continual improvement of the service as your portfolio and compliance requirements evolve.
